Things have been crazy at Camp Prague.  Independent project is finished, just in time for a thunderstorm warning AND the Czech Beer Festival!  Supposedly the beer fest has it’s own currency, the “tolar”; 44 crowns to a tolar, and one tolar gets you a half-liter of the best beer in the world and possibly the universe.

The Bobina Chronicles: homegirl loooooves me.  She comes and sits next to my bed, and sometimes under my bed.  I have faced the frightening menace of small angry domesticated canines, and I have emerged triumphant.

The spring fashion has been getting ridiculous.  Crocs, super-tight dresses, ill-fitting denim shorts, many polka dots, six-inch heels in the middle of the day.  And men with the ubiquitous Prague hairdo, a single small bunch of dreadlocks protruding from the back of an otherwise buzzed head.  What???

Went on another bike ride with my host dad.  We had to ride up a really difficult hill but guess what was at the top of the hill?  A pub!  So beer is definitely a good addition to bike rides.

I’ve been noticing a lot of signs that have a noun followed by “jak má být,” which, turns out, means “as it should be.”  Football as it should be.  Etc.

Roughly a week left here, after which I will be going on a Eurail adventure with my friendo to Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Groningen and Amsterdam.  After which I will be more than ready for BURLINGTON.  Miss u, B-town.

Bobina is SO DEPRESSED.  She keeps soliciting me for belly rubs.  She is the saddest dog ever.

Favorite photo from the Martin Parr exhibition.  Parr is a British photographer who, among other things, is really good at capturing the ridiculousness of vacations.

The exterior of DOX, a contemporary art museum in Praha 7.  That skull rotates!

Bobina, my ‘host dog.’  Don’t be fooled by her sweet looks.  She’s quite scary when she barks.  Oh but now we’ve bonded because the older dog (her mother) has run away — my host dad told me it was “the happiest day of his life” — and Bobina is depressed.  So she comes and jumps on me when I’m on the computer.  And once she sat on me when I was sunbathing.  So we’re bonding.  Progress is being made.

Church exterior.  IMPOSING, YO

Stained glass in a different (Gothic) church in Kutná Hora.  Painted straight onto the glass, no mosaics, which is why it kind of looks like a children’s book.

Chain chain chain…chain o’ skulls

bonez!

Long blog absence!  Started my independent project so I’ve been very bizzy with that byznys (business in Czech — weird word, right?).  Oh but here I am at the bone church in Kutná Hora, thrilled to be amongst the bones.
